While I'm awaiting any responses to the previous Post on my apparent Fuel Pump problem I may as well share several recent experiences with y'all. I had the misfortune of breaking the passenger side fixed vent glass mid June and looked for a replacement assembly for several weeks-there have been several postings recently on this subject and what I encountered was;
Dealer/GM discontinued-Lof stopped producing these assemblies 4 years ago-they are known as an encapulation-the glass is moulded into the window frame which includes the side window guide track. With this type of factory assembly the glass itself cannot simply be replaced, the entire assembly when it was available was priced at $425. Cdn. or approx. $280. US
Because the glass is tempered and curved it cannot be cut for simple replacement.
The one offer I received from this Discussion Page was around $700. US for the assembly.
Speedway Automotive in Phoenix offered me one for $1250. US Gross price but then that's the reality of Supply and Demand!
I missed out on several complete doors in Canada in the $5-700. range.
I have resorted to installing 3/16" Plexiglass while I continue to search for a reasonably priced replacement assembly.
TAKE CARE REATTA OWNERS-AVOID IMPACTING THOSE SIDE MIRRORS WITH ANYTHING LARGER THAN AN INSECT!
IF anyone has the same problem I would be willing to share with them the routine for the temporary Plexiglass fix.
BRAKES
Went to my friendly neighbourhood GM Dealer for a set of rear brake pads yesterday morning-DISCONTINUED. No option now but aftermarket and I understand from this Discussion Page that they tend to rattle, not sized exactly the same apparently as the stock parts. Any suggestions or solutions for that one?
Wait a minute!!
I thought that AC Delco brakes were OEM. You mean to tell me that they're not?
That would make me very upset!

If you can use the DRIVER door on an '88 Reatta coupe which includes the vent glass and is in nice shape (red door) it can be obtained from Kissimmee Auto Salvage in Kissimmee, FL by calling Steve or Henry at 407-847-5197 or fax them at 407-847-8259. Last I knew the car still had the driver door and vent glass, but they have sold the passenger door and all.
