my name is john, wondering if any '89 reatta specialists can help me with a couple of problems?? problem number one, after jims advice on the code page, I come up with code eo41 as current, can anyone translate??? problem number 2, my tape player has recently gone on the fritz, I pulled it , took it apart, and found a broken nylon component in the unit. I need a schematic/breakdown of radio components with part numbers, as I do not know what the part is called. can anyone help me with this as I know I can do this myself. thanks, john

OK, the E041 indicates that the cam sensor circuit has problems, most likely a bad cam sensor, missing magnet, or both.<P>The failure of a cam sensor is not an uncommon one, so I suspect that it's the sensor itself. Though I would reccomend eliminating as many other possibilities as you can (i.e. cam sensor magnet missing, poor connection to sensor, bad ECM, etc.) before you replace the sensor. <P>If you intend to replace the sensor I suggest getting a shop manual (if you don't already have one) from one of the sources mentioned on the board here. It's great if you intend to do the work yourself, just diagnose the problem or if you just want to have backup in dealing with mechanics.<P>As far as cassette deck schematics, I'd like some too, I'm getting real tired of hearing click, click instead of my favorite tapes <p>[This message has been edited by wheresjim (edited 06-28-2000).]

I have two 1989 Reattas that have the same problem with the tape player.<P>

Thanks for the info. Here is another question. Where exactly is the Cam Sensor and is this a tough fix? I have been working on cars all my life, but they have been '68-72 Buicks. This engine is a bit new to me. What should the average cost be at a dealer if I decide this isn't somthing I want to tackle?

Monica,<BR> The cam sensor is located on the timing chain cover. Buick will probally be very expensive . Do a search on my last name and you should find several posts on E-041 and cam sensors. How to diag, and fix. mine turned out to be a bad cam magnet located on the cam gear behind the timing cover. Not to hard and it took about 5 hours.<BR>Good luck,<P>------------------<BR>Jim
