Sorry Crashem. I have no useful information for you, but I am curious as to WHAT started. The car or the madness that drives us all to spend lots more to fix one up than we'll ever get back out of it?
Maybe someone else will some useful info.

Stewart Motor Corp, Buffalo, NY,
The Stewart Motor Corp was a prominent manufacturer of commercial vehicles in Buffalo, NY, from 1912 until just before WW II.
In 1915-1916 Stewart built an automobile, a large car, with a 6-cylinder, continental engine. The radiator was mounted to the rear of the engine, a la Renault, with a sloping hood. 3 or 7 seat models were available @ $1,950.
Stewart was better known for the manufacture of commercial vehicles.

Crashem
You might try the AACA Library and Research Center for more information on the Stewart. They have a huge collection of automotive information that can be researched for a very small price. They provided valuable information to me on an early locally made auromobile when I was unable to find information anywhere else, even in the town the automobile was made. And it was done for about $5.00 cost to me.
The library address is:
AACA Library and Research Center
501 West Governer Road
PO Box 417
Hershey, Pennsylvania 17033
There is also a page on the library and research center on the AACA website. The library and research center provide valuable help for automobile research.
I remember seeing a truck in the automobile collection of the Rough and Tumble Engineers Association (steam association) in Kinser, Pennsylvania a few years ago that was a Stewart...if my memory serves right.

I would vote for the Library as well. Since Howard nailed the place of manufacture you could write to the state capital to see if they have archieves on such things. The Smithsonian may also be a source.
