Howard Hanson wrote a great How-To article on adapting a $18 JC-Whitney Fuel Sender to work in 1956 Packard. This should also work for any Packard from 1951-56. If you can't find one of those hard to find Ford units to use as a replacement, this modern universal kit with Howard's instructions should help you out and be more forgiving of modern fuels.
Anyways the article is now on the Website for your enjoyment.
If anyone elese would like to submit a How-to article I would be more than happy to have it on the website.
Thanks,

Well nothing new to update you with this week. I figure either I have picked you all clean of information, or you are all out having fun with your Packard's for the summer.
As soon as I receive any additional donations of material for the website I will post them ASAP. The post-war information we have out there is getting pretty extensive and is becoming a great one-stop resource for Packard generated material.
The pre-war section is still very thin. Either people dont want to share the prewar information, they dont have any, or they just dont frequent this forum. Either way I am sure it will fill in over time as people discover the website. For some reason the National Clubs (except of course the Packard V8 Club) have choosen not to include the website on their Packard links pages. I wonder why??

BigKev -
I can't speak for others, but this has been a very busy summer for me - barely made it to the CVOA meet in June and the Packard meet in Warren last month. So much work to do at my folks house, I haven't even turned a key in one of the olds cars this year, but still chipping away at the groundwork for a new garage.
Come the fall, when the weather is no longer good for outdoor work ( maybe as late as November), I will have some material to scan and forward. I'll e-mail you to find out what resolution is best for your site and how to upload when I am ready to proceed.
Although my focus is on the V8 cars, I think your site is well on the way to becoming one of the best online resources out there for the Packard public at-large.
As for the lack of particpation in pre-war areas, part of that may be due to there being less of that info out there and a smaller audience with fewer people who may be active online. That sort of mirrors the participation in this DF, but at least we have Speedster (Rick) and his '29 Project to keep the prewar flame alive.

I figured most people are busy in the summer with their cars, vacations and honey-do lists. So no worries. Even online, people tend to be more active during the Winter months.
I had a few people ask me if I was still actively adding content to the website. So I just wanted to let everyone know that the website is still going strong, just havent had anything else to put online recently.
For anyone interested scanning content, 150 dpi is fine for normal stuff (brochures, STB's, etc). If there is something very detailed (like a wiring diagram) with small fonts then 300 dpi is best. Any larger is overkill and I will end up having to down-sample it to make it manageable for people with slow connections. If you have a full version of Adobe Acrobat, you can scan directly to a PDF. If anyone needs help with it just drop me a PM and I will help you out. You can also send me photocopies and I will take care of the scanning on this end. I'm pretty flexible and thankfull for any material people want to put on the website.

P.S. - I PM'ed Peter Gariepy several weeks ago asking that your site to be added to the Packard Links thread, but have seen no change in that regard. (Can I be the only one who aked that of him?) IMHO, having the "Packard Info Newsletter" thread pinned to the top, isn't quite the same as your site having a link on Peter G's Packard Links thread. That seems rather unappreciative since you were kind enough to give the AACA Packard Forums a link on your website's Packard Links page.
As for other Packard clubs failing to provide a link in exchange, it doesn't paint them in a favorable light.

Thanks for sending the PM, I appreciate it. Peter maybe out enjoying his summer also, or working on the spellchecker for Rick!
As far as the other clubs, the only thing I can figure is that either they don't take the site seriously, or they do and don't like the fact have all that info up there for free public consumption. Either way is fine. As long as people find it useful, then it serves it's purpose and that's good enough for me.

Kevin: Take my word on this PAC and PIC know of your site an probably take it reel serious, and don't like it one bit. I would be willing to bet money that they have come into your site and looked it over real close and extracted what information they think they can use. Like I stated in the begining they will share nothing in return, with people they know are none club members.
Here is an example of what I mean. The Packards in the movies that in on the PAC site. When it first started we had a person from PAC come in the forum and asked forum members to help contribute to his list. When asked on two different times to publish the list in here, you got the vague reply if you want a copy send me a PM for a copy of the list. He can't give a simple answer to the rest of us why he couldn't publish a copy of the list in this forum and share it with all. What he is saying in a back handed way, I will gladly take your information, but I am not going to freely share the complete list with people outside of what is on the PAC web site. Maybe that person who started the movie roster for PAC would like to come in and make some comments.
You all can bet your bottom dollar that in the near furture there will be a movie list for all to read in this forum.

Complete Ultramatic Info

I just uploaded a 700+ page, 3 volume set of information on everything Ultramatic. This covers every Ultramatic made and includes all the STB's, SC's, and Service Manuals.
Take a look at this as it is a very complete set. I had to scan it at a only 96 dpi as any larger would have made it completely impractical for people to download.
Thanks to John Shireman for the donation of this complete set of work.

Just a quick thanks to the folks at PI that have linked to the PackardInfo.com site from their links page.
Hopefully more Packardites will find the site and in doing so donate material that everyone in Packardom can enjoy.

Parts X-Ref

The Parts X-Ref Database that was on the PackardInfo.com site never worked the way I liked it, so I dumped it. That's what I get for trying to shoe-horn a ready made piece. So I wrote my own database handling routines and created a new database to go with it.
So what all that BS means is there is a new Packard Part X-Ref on the website the is vastly easier to use. Now you can search and add to the X-Ref from the same page. I have added a few parts to the list to get it started. If you guys have some X-Ref information you would like to share, please feel free to go to the website and add any information you have.
Hopefully it will fill in over time like the other parts of the site have.
Thanks,

Here is an early X-max present to those newer 55-56 Owners out there.
Thanks to the work of Howard Hanson, the scanning and the upload of the 1955-1956 Service Manual has begun.
75% of the manual has already been scanned and is online (in chapters/sections). The other Sections will come online in the next few days.
Thanks again to Howard Hanson for taking the time to do this.

Mr. Hanson has been a valuable contributor for quite some time for those of us seeking knowledge of Packards. His concise descriptions and explanations have helped many of us who couldn't find the answers anywhere else. A tip of the hat to Howard who is still helping us Packard folk.

The entire 55-56 Service Manual is now online. All the sections now have the correct cover pages. So if you downloaded any of the sections posted earlier, you can just re-download them again to get the updated versions.
Thanks again to Howard Hanson for the donation of this material.

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it. No one else had commented on it so I starting to belive that either no one had read it, or at least had nothing good to say about it!
I'm glad to find you found it informative. I plan on rebuilding my Carb soon, so if people like that picture essay format, then I will do the same with that also.
