This is a 1965 Corvette coupe owned by my wife, Gloria and myself. I've never had a really good picture of this car until this past week. Our Region was on our Luray, Virginia tour last week and as we traveled "every" backroad and small town in and around Virginia, I told our tour chairman to hold on, I'd be right back. I found this turn of the century factory building in a back street of Elkton, Virginia as a perfect backdrop for my Corvette. My wife and I bought this car in 1995 from a New Jersey dealer (She was really good to me that year ). It came from the Reggie Jackson Collection by way of an Atlantic City Auction some years ago. It's a driver with mostly original paint and interior. It's equipped with the 375 hp 327, 4 speed trans, 373 axle ratio, power brakes, power windows and antenna, side pipes, knock off wheels, Black on Black. On this particular tour the car averaged 18.73 mpg on one tank full, and 19.12 on the last. It's a thrill to go through the gears, which makes good gas milage a challenge at best. Our tour chairman, Dewey Ableiter, rode with me on a side tour to an older car museum, The Roaring Twenties in Hood, Virginia. After blowing out a little carbon (showing off),he said he could never do that in his '47 Ford convertible as both axle shafts would "snap" under that kind of acceleration. He didn't mention that his little Ford Flatty wouldn't accelerate like "that". We enjoyed out overnight tour, but driving the Corvette makes any trip exciting. Wayne

Thanks Dizz. Being the Vette lover you are, I just knew I'd hear from you. Below are our little tour group on the Shenandoah River near Stanley, Virginia, between Luray and Elkton, Virginia. Rediculous that a club with over 100 members could only come up with three tour cars on such a beautiful trip. By the way, the yellow '47 Ford belongs to Jo Anne and Dewey Ableiter of Weems, Virginia, and the 1978? Ford pickup belongs to Jack and Peggy Vogel of White Stone, Virginia. Dewey is the high roller Dizz as he and Jo Ann live on a golf course with indoor running water and occasional indoor flying "golf balls"! You can see my friends waving just over the hood of the Vette. Speaking of gas milage, the two Ford's averaged about 15 mph. I was really surprised at Jack's 3/4 ton pickup doing that well. Wayne

Wayne, is that large dark spot on the pavement an oil slick running from your Vette?

Wayne, only ribbing. Modified Corvettes are everywhere and they are meant to be stock as they can't be improved upon as you stated! Now go and put the miles on it and enjoy.

Wayne, does the guy who has that orange Ford pickup had a flea market space at Hershey in the past?? I was thinking I've seen that on the White Field.

The last of the special built pedal cars will be going up for sale at the RM Auctions in Scottsdale in January. Built by the renown restorer Fran Roxas, this "Dusey" is truly is another work of art.
