Maryland Reintroduces Bill to Create Antique Vehicle Registration Class, Reduce Registration Fees
A bill (S.B. 184) reintroduced in the Maryland State Legislature by State Senator Larry Haines to provide for a registration class for antique motor vehicles and reduce registration fees for these cars will be considered by the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.
We Urge You to Contact Judicial Proceedings Committee Members (List Attached) Immediately To Request Their Support for S.B. 184.
S.B. 184 would create a new class for antique motor vehicles to include passenger vehicles, motorcycles or trucks manufactured before 1946 that have not been substantially altered from the manufacturer?s original design.
S.B. 184 would exempt antique vehicles from annual registration fees and require a one-time only registration fee of $50.00.
S.B. 184 would provide for a special antique motor vehicle registration plate.
S.B. 184 would exempt antique vehicles from laws requiring periodic inspections.
S.B. 184 would limit antique vehicles to occasional transportation, exhibitions, club activities, parades tours and similar uses.
