Another great story, Mr. Earl! Thanks so much for adding that fun video footage. We'll be eager to learn this car's eventual fate.

Gee, you didn't look like you were having fun at all...Suzanne came into the room as I was just starting up the first video and thought it was pretty cool. And, hey, if it get's the woman's approval...

I wish the cars I found ran that well for that sort of price...oh well.

I wish I could have been there for the inaugural run. The videos are great but they fall short of the full deal. There is nothing like the smell of the old car exhaust and the smells of an old car interior!.
My son is embarking on a career in computing studies and software engineering. Maybe this is the next frontier where we can record the smells, as well as the sounds and sights, and digitally reproduce them at the other end! I'll get him working on it right away. Just remember what we thought was leading edge technology 30,40 or 50 years ago.... and today we have just scratched the surface to be sure.
Just think of how happy our wives will be when we attach an odour generator beside the speakers.
There is nothing like the sights, sounds and smells, of jumping in an old auto, brought back to life, and charging down the road. Great fun!

I only recently brought home my 54 roadie and love your collection and enthusiasm. If any of those parts lying around need to find a new home, I would appreciate a "heads-up". I'm also wondering if you've recarpeted any of those beauties. If so,where did you get the rug? I'm starting with a great body,a leaky dyna,no rug, broken front pas./driver wing windows, and front door/kick panels that are totally wasted, but I'm greatly looking forward to working on this masterpiece. Any advice on parts or tricks for these old ladies would be very much appreciated.

Feel free to e-mail or P.M. me.

Welcome aboard Cory!!!
It's great to hear of another 54 Roady being "revived". Hopefully you'll share more about how you found it and some photos with your own "Me and My Buick" thread. And also if you haven't joined the Buick Club of America yet, what are you waiting on.The club magazine alone is worth the price of admission and is full of sources for parts and serrvices for these cars.
Re the carpets, no I haven't had to replace them in any of my girls as they are the originals and in good enough conditiion not to warrant replacement. My only problem is that they have shrank (or is that shrunk) over the years. I can't recall if they are Daytona or Grosse Point weave...the latter I believe. Somebody?? I'd suggest posting in the Post-war Tech or buy sell section for a source. I may can help you with some patterns for the kick panels. The leaky tranny may be due to it having sat for some time and the seals drying. Once it is ran they may swell and stop leaking. Or it may need a torque ball seal. Before running it on the road, check the rear end for tranny fluid contamination from the leaky tranny flowing through the torque tube. Do a search on here for leaky Dynaflow and I can almost guarantee you'll find some info about that. The fact that you are starting with a "great body" is a blessing. It will be a rare one if the front floor's aren't rusted through. The 54's were notorious for leaking around the front door just below the windshield. What are your plans for the car. Don't be afraid to tell if it is anything other than restoring back to original here as we appreciate any efforts to keep these Buicks ON THE ROAD!!!

Yesterday when I got home after work, I noticed one of the barn doors was open. I run down there, look in and my heart falls to my feet. Irene WAS GONE!!! This is the last picture I took of my Irene.

There was big truck tire tracks and scuff marks in the grass where someone had backed up to the barn and loaded her up. I called the Madison County Sheriff's office to report her stolen and was told that due to so many rednecks in Madison County getting drunk, forgetting where they park their car and repoting them stolen they now have a policy of requiring 24 hours after a car comes up missing before they can make a report. Sorta like a missing wife or husband he said.I told him I would call back in the morning.
Well you will not believe what was in my back yard when I walked out of the house this morning.

There

she

was.

Or at least it looked kinda like Irene.

But, but, but...................

She had been

PIMPED!!!!

IRENE HAD BEEN PIMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was horrified!!! All I could find was a card on her that said
"Compliments of your German friend Diablo...hope you like it."

All I could do was cry. Rita came out and took me back inside to console me. Well I was in the house for maybe a couple of hours and

lo and behold when I went back out

this

is

what

I

saw.

I cried out, "Man what a chick magnet...Thank you Diablo!!! Upon hearing that, Rita comes to the door and runs them all into the woods.

But my main reason for posting is to ask this. Does anyone know where I can buy four more sets of these wheels and lowering kits.

It now has a V-10 and danged if that ol' Dynaflow can't handle it. Me and a couple of them girls hit a hunert and forty last night and that ol' Dynaflow just kept right on a flowin. What was I doin, doin a hundred and forty you ask.... DUCKIN BULLETS that's what, Rita was right behind us. Never knew that Volvo wagon had it in it!!

I was so happy you haven't found it!! I attached that function to the seat adjustment knob.

Bouncing was the reason I brought her back to your barn and just wrote you a card. I couldn't stay any longer. I installed a suspension that can make her bounce, but got A LOT OF TROUBLE. We did some bouncing tests in the early morning:

First of all, have you ever wondered what this could do to the environment, when a heavy car (about 4300 lbs) like Irene bounces?? It causes EARTHQUAKES!

But thats not the worst part. All the girls wanted to stay in or on top of Irene and afterwards they were so mad at me because bouncing ruin their hairstyle!

Before they started beating me (with all pieces of wood they could find)

I took this short video with my cellphone

and ran away:

So, please avoid using the front seat adjustment!!

THANKS for the WARNING about the hidden switch but I?m afraid it was a little late. I got in her this morning to take her for a cruise over to the ?East Side? to show her off to all my newly acquired friends and homey?s and when I tried to adjust the seat she started bouncing. I tried to shut it off but it was bouncin so hard the switch broke off in my hand. Rita came out, started laughing and turned around and walked back inside(saying something about calling the local news station). To make a long story short, by the time the battery that powers the hydraulics wore down the local TV News, Fox Five, the Fire Department, Civil Defense and Homeland Security had arrived. The doctor said my head should stop bobbing within a few days and that I will likely be about 4 inches shorter than before. Oh, and Rita wants to know who is going to fill in that big hole in her back yard...where the barn use to be. Thanks a lot, Diablo..... El Diablo......

You my good man are a "Hoot"

Why a V-10? There's room to slap another ventiport on her ... and you got a V-12 - how about two Supercharged 3800s end-to-end or side-by-side Tommy Ivo style!
I need one of those with all the "accesories" - wouldn't be grumpy anymore but what a way to die!

I'm not sure to thank you or not...with the site update, your post kind of forced me to go over the entire thread again...well worth the time.
