While i thank those of you who've shared ruminations and opines, it seems odd that no one visiting this august site has firsthand experience with these drop-in Pertronix electronic ignition kits, as they've been advertised in the Packard Club's (PAC) News Bulletin for over a year (the non-Classic junior kits for nearly three years), as well as the Classic Car (CCCA) Bulletin, etc. My Cord-driving friends tell me at least 30 blown and non-blown '36-'37 810/812s are running Pertronix, so there must be m a n y more 1940-47 Packard 160/180 and Super/Custom Super Clippers so equipped.
As said, car runs like the wind [color:"black"] [/color] now, but the purpose of any of these non-invasive tweaks is just to extract "all that our cars can be" (and maybe a little more) to paraphrase the Army's recruiting line.
