Has anyone on here ever participated in the Great Race and if so, could you share some advice?

This annual event recently passed through my area and it renewed my interst to participate now that the wife and her dad are co-owners of a 31 A coupe. This years race is about 4000 miles, which could seem like a lifetime in that cramped car, but it is ran in short stages that make it easier.
