Hello All, The paint is coming off my wheels, one's still covered but it's flaking off the others. Is there something I can put on them? Tung Oil or linseed oil? I don't want to repaint as they still look good, pin stripe and all. Thanx in advance for all your help, Arthur

Some people are soaking their wheels in linseed oil to fill the spokes back up. I chose to use marine grade epoxy. I'm doing a full rebuild on my wheels and brakes. Replacing the wheel bearings too. I figured I would start from the ground up. After sanding the epoxy smooth so that it is no more than a sealer coat I am repainting the spokes what I think is the original green. Could not find any pinstripes though. This may be a much more agressive method than you are looking for though. I can send you pictures of the progress. You may need a special tool for the split rims. I made my own as I could not find one anywhere.

Chris,

Could you give me some info on removing the spit rims. My Chandler is a 22 Royal Dispatch with the wire spokes wheels. I am preparing to start some work and need to get some tires patched.

Thinks for you help.

Peter

Peter,

Wood and metal spoke rims are probably different. Email me pictures of your wheels and rims so I can advise you how to procede.
Glad to hear you are getting a chance to work on the car. Have you thought about joining our club?

I will take some pics and get them to you. I am filling out the paperwork for the club today and will send it on in. Thanks again,

Peter
