Have you tried a parts store like NAPA or a Ford dealer? I would like to think this part should be available still and fairly common among the years. I replaced one on my 64 Galaxy many moons ago with a new one from the local parts store. Even if you have to junk yarding, one that will work should not be hard to find as they did little other than starting and back up lights in that era.

Good Luck,

Is for my brother. Part new seems to be non existent. Common for the C4 trans not for the C6 and not interchangeable. The obsolete Ford parts companies etc just say good luck

Does this switch mount on the transmission or the steering column? I had a flashback to my 66 Galaxy with a C4 that had the switch on the side of the tranny. I was thinking column mount when I wrote my first reply.

He says switch goes on the column, currently has wired around it, but would like to have it working properly. Would settle for a used one

If it's on the column, then you should be able to adapt without a problem. Try a column mounted switch for another Ford, later or earlier. Ford had pretty good interchangeability in that era. The switch on my 64 was spring loaded and kept it's arm against the little tab sticking out of the column. It was so simple it was scary. The only thing it did was allow the car to start in park and neutral and turn on the back up lights. Once the shifter was moved past neutral the switch was just along for the ride, so it did not matter what transmission was used. I would see if the 64 switch is available and compare them.
