We've got a lovely '28 AR Roadster (AACA Senior) and I've been cataloging all the unique 'AR' features. One thing the books don't say is where the 'AR' designation came from? Did Ford come up with it? Is it a Model Number? Were they so designated from the beginnning, or was this designation added later?
Does 'AR' stand for something ...
... like maybe "Almost Ready"?
Does anyone know any good reference books that specifically address the early Model A's?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I've always thought the R was for replacement. Please let us know the total number of AR parts in an AR. I've always wondered how much it cost Ford to retool to build the Model A, then REretool to produce the parts to replace the AR items.
