Thanks Peter. Noticed on the T forum a post about driving around. If the weather keeps on as it is doing now we would need one of the A's with the snowmobile tracks. At the moment it looks as if our snow plans on landing in HVS's drive. Hope he has a shovel!
On a serious note I need a good left front 31 fender, prefer one with wheel well but can get by without. Am trying to get to my 31 roadster restoration as a winter project but everything happens to stop it.
Has anyone had to bend the decklid to match the body contour? Mine needs a sharper radius and I would welcome any suggestions.
A merry christmas to all.
BV

You may have a 1928-29 decklid, that is different than a 1930-31.

The wrong year decklid makes sense. I was told by someone supposed to know A's that the deck lids were the same. When I look at a decklid without having anything to compare it with , how do I tell the year? Don't have many experts in our little town of 400. Don't have much car traffic just dogs!

All Model "A" deck lids have the same shape for all years. Variations come in the placement of the latch assembly on the rumble seat over the years. 28-29's have the latch "hook" right at the edge of the lid. In use the "hook" would damage the body panel if someone attempted to close the rumble lid with the latch handle turned to the closed position. So, in 1930 the latch placement was moved away from the edge and also lower into the lid to allow the hook to engage on the rumble gutter rather than on the edge of the opening. If you check out Walt Bratton's catalog or the Model A Service bulletins you will see the change well illustrated. As a matter of course, Ford's volume production resulted in some really poor fits on the body. Remember it's no Beemer. It was the lowest priced car made.
