is there a way to find out the past owners of my newly purchased 1917 model t speedster ?

Rick, Start by asking the fellow you got the speedster from. Most speedsters are made up from extra parts and date back as far as the 1950's. An original period T speedster with an aftermarket body made in the 1920's is one rare vehicle. Have fun with your T, that is what they are for.
