76 Delta 88, when driving at slow speeds, say 30 - 40 mph while coasting or no load it seems to disengage. When reaplying gas is like in neutral for a second then grabs and is just fine. No other problems, maybe shifts a little soft. Is fine at highway speeds and accelerating or uphills.<P>Whats up?

Check the fluid first. It sounds like it has a bad friction surface. If its never been rebuilt then it probably isn't worth trying to repair. Just rebuild it.

Thanks Tom, I am hopeing to get some milage out of this trans. and then possibly change rear ratios and get a 700 R4. I do plan on changing fluid and filter. I was thinking it acted like a valve was'nt working or hanging up. But I know nothing about automatics.
