A friend of mine has a beautiful '58 Super 88 2-door hardtop with the J-2 engine option. It is our understanding that only about 12 '58 Oldsmobiles were equipped with this option. Is any information available as to the breakdown of original J-2 cars by series and body style? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The Super 88 convertibles were 3,799 in number out of a total of 88,992 units in '58. I don't have the specific J-2 info although all models were available with the J-2 that year. Hope this helps alittle.<p>[ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: Speed Wagon ]

I would think that a lot more than just 12 J-2's were available that year... I see lots and lots of J-2 intakes, and they can't all be '57's!
