Hello to the List:
I want to thank everyone who has responded to my post on oil filter solutions. I will be using Mr. B. Ripleys' product. The car is going in the shop(Hullco-Layton Garage, Layton, NJ Doug Hull, master craftsman) for front end work this winter and the filter will be converted at that time.
My latest post is for me , a good news, bad news. My car has a trunk rack, which, while a Packard rack, does not appear to be the correct size as it measures 16.5 inches deep by 38.5 wide. The car was rear ended many years ago, (evidence of body work can be seen inside the lip of the vehicle's trunk lid), and it appears that the first rack available was installed, possibly from salvage.
Today, I was able to purchase an exterior trunk manufactured by Laskey of Newark, NJ. The logo is the letter L superimposed on the leters B & Co. The trunk was removed from a 1939 Super 8 touring sedan & the seller had a photograph of the car to authenticate the trunks provenance. The car & trunk had been owned by a grandparent and the trunk was retained in the family when the car was sold in the 40s. It is clean, complete, except for tie down hardware and leather straps, with three suitcases and an original key.
My problem is how to mount this trunk on the car, or locate the proper rack if there was such a thing. Any information on trunks or other suggestions would be most welcome.
This list has been a real help to me and I appreciate the time and effort people have taken to respond on my behalf.
Regards,
Paul Edwards
New Jersey, USA
