You could also have a ground problem on your sending unit. Did you replace the sending unit lately? You don't say whether this is a 63/64 or a 65. There are two different sending units; if you put the wrong one in your tank, you'll not get a true

What can I say. After 45+ years, I doubt the original carboard is worth saving. Reproduction cardboard is available and cheap. Like I said, I replaced my cardboard with a section cut from a box. Sprayed it flat black and used duck tape to install it.

Yes, Ed Macauley did at least 2 versions of the Brown-bomber. A '33 and a '44. Both versions may have had same chassis, but not sure. I think it was a continous 'Work in Progress' and didn't survive. He did drive them personally, tho. See Link:

Okay, I'm ashamed. I have a 56 Buick Special 322 V8. Had it for 18 years but due to high pressure job, kids, hectic lifestyle, Ive neglected it over the past few years. Decided to give it a well deserved tune up this week. Took off all the plug wires

Well Dave, I don't know about the black eye...revisionist history seems to be going on all around us (at least in some particulars about the early settlement of western Canada)...that gets into a rather political discussion, but your conclusion certa

Thanks for the information Greg. I've heard of that method of mounting / balancing tires, but don't know if any of the local shops do it. I can ask my regular mechanic though. As to the whitewall width, you may very well be right. We've had tha

Hi, The pictures are of the 1944(?) Packard "Brown Bomber". Was this car a functional show car or a mockup? If it was a functional car, does it exist today? I can't see any steering wheel in the pictures and changing a rear tire looks like

Dear Mike: Look up Mac Blair in PA. in the roster. He's forgotten more about 1932 Buicks than any of the rest of us will ever know and is still about 10 times more knowledgeable on them than anyone else I've met in 38 years as a BCA member. Regards

If you really can't get a deal on a Lincoln V-12, BMW makes the most popular V-12 in the world. Don't put in a pedestrian motor (like Chevrolet), keep your class. After all, it is a Lincoln. You'd have the usual issues of fabbing motor mount plat

Dear BRH: I don't know about laying rubber with one, but I put the old size 13 D to our 63 WC convertible 425 4-speed at 10 MPH in second gear, with my watch where I could see could see the second hand ticking. Less than 7 ticks to 70, all in second

I'm not a fan of automotive cures in a bottle, but Seafoan Trans Medic cured a dead (acted as in neutral when in DRIVE) on a '93 Eldo I had. Made me a believer.

Dear Derek and Paul: Thanks for the kind words about the Bugle article. It's interesting that Paul mentions drag racing a self-shifter as there's a man who lives right here in Fort Worth that did exactly that about 50 years ago in Michigan and Calif

Cardboard is way cheaper than a locksmith. The lock unbolts from the inside of the trunk. The lock cylinder, which is what needs to be replaced, is the same for 1960 - 1964 Galaxies. It is a separate piece from the molding. It is available from Denni

I am confident that you can make the starter motor crank, but you don't really want to, until your EFI circuit is good. That's what they did at GM, they can't test the injector circuit until it actually fires. I believe, as soon as that portion ene

Thanks for the responses, Rodger, Chris and Rusty. The issue is in fact being caused by the bakelite (?) ring. I jiggled it around a bit (highly technical experiment) and could get the circuit to ground, making the horn blow. As a hunch, after I t
