CraigP
This is my grandmother's Jeep Willys, she says that it is a 1960. When I looked for images of a 1960, I couldn't find any with a cover over the bed like this one has. Is it aftermarket or what? Neither of us know much about this vehicle, so if you know anything about it, please post it![image]http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b371/CRP07/02-18-07_1012.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting[/image][image]http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b371/CRP07/02-18-07_1010.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting[/image][image]http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b371/CRP07/02-18-07_1704.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting[/image]
Ron of Chicago
Welcome to the group CraigI believe what you have there is a a CJ-5. There was also a CJ-6 which was a longer wheelbase model. They were rated at 1/4 ton. There also was a CJ-3B that was the same chasis as the 5 but I believe that it had what they call "flat fenders" meaning that the fenders did not roll at the front. The engine was a 4 cylinder and it was quite powerful. Their great vehicles. If you need more info, let me know and I can send you what I have. D Binger
The Army used that vehicle and they called it a M-38. The hard cover was used on some of them when they were in cold weather areas.
jimkf
The hardtop on your Jeep is probably a Koenig unit. Sears also sold a similar version under the Allstate name. I have Willys Overalnd literature from the late 40's that lists Koenig and Allstate tops as two of several suppliers of winter tops for the CJ series Jeeps. There should be a manufacturers tag on the unit somewhere...usually near the windshield attachment point or near the driver's door. Most of the tops have long since disappeared since they weren't quite as well built as the Jeep itself.
TG57Roadmaster
Barely visible in the red part of this CJ pamphlet, is a fiberglass & steel bodied Jeep. It doesn't bear a close enough relation to yours, which may lead one to believe that it's a home-made version. Keep trying though, something's bound to show up!TG
TG57Roadmaster
Here's the inside of that pamphlet that applies to the CJ5, and shows the others mentioned above, as well. TG
TG57Roadmaster
What the Heck, this stuff doesn't grow on trees; you might as well have the other half, too!TG
