TheComyn
My grandfather became a salesman for Maxwells in Wichita about 1917. I found this photo of my uncle in what looks like a new car, and would like to identify it. Hope someone can help.
1937hd45
Welcome to the Forum. That looks like a 1922-1923 Maxwell touring car, nice photo.
Guest De Soto Frank
I believe Jack Benny had a Maxwell of this vintage...
TheComyn
Yes he did. Wasn't the Maxwell the forerunner to the Chrysler?
Guest De Soto Frank
Yes; Walter P. Chrysler was brought in to "save" Maxwell-Chalmers...He "saved them" alright; after fixing some issues with the Maxwell models already in production (c.1922), and renaming them the "Good Maxwell", Chrysler brought out a car under his own name in 1924, then in 1925, the Maxwell marque was replaced by the Chrysler 52 (a four-cylinder car that lasted until 1928, when it was replaced by the Plymouth Q ).I sure there's more to the story than that...but someone else can pick it up from here... TheComyn
Thanks to all for their help. I have found another photo, which I have attached, and I think may be the same car. Good front photo, can you lend your expertise again? Pat Cummins

Guest De Soto Frank
Sure looks like Overland's "Triplex" front springs, judging by the outswept radiator pan..."Rides as if every bump has springs! "
Terry Bond
Absolutely an overland, you can make out the distinctive radiator badge and the filler cap is also a give-away.Terry
