I have had the www.reatta.org petition site up now for a couple of months and have gathered many entries from people who wanted to voice their concern to the NHTSA about the Teves anti-lock brake system found in the Reattas made from 1988-1990.
It's coming time for me to submit the petiton to the NHTSA, so I will keep the site up for another week or so to gather any remaining entries before sending the petition in, and shutting down the site.
My purpose for procuring the domain name was for the petition only, and I have no time to make any more websites. So once I take the site down, I will probably have no use for the domain name.
If you would like to use the domain www.reatta.org, please contact me with a proposal for what you would like to do with the www.reatta.org domain name. Obviously I would like to see it used for an informational site about Reattas!

------------------
Jim Gough
www.esprinkles.com
www.reatta.org

[This message has been edited by wheresjim (edited 10-16-2000).]

I must say, I'm very impressed with the response to the petition, Jim. Great job! I am saddened by the number of people who have experienced the two types of brake failures in these cars. I'm even more concerned about those of you who have experienced a failure and continue to drive the car without getting some sort of positive determination from the dealer. It just boggles my mind. Except for the few who know how to do their own work, I have yet to see anyone come away from a dealer with anything but one of the following two responses:
1) We can't find ANYTHING wrong.
or
2) We have to replace your ENTIRE ABS + computer for $3000.
This is terrible and, to my mind, criminal. I will continue to research fatal crashes involving Reattas. I'll keep you all posted. This is a tough effort to sustain for people who work for a living, and I'm really impressed with all the work people have been putting into it!

You're right, Brenda, I did forget about your happy experience at the dealership in Phoenix. That gives me hope for a corporation-wide solution to this problem. Maybe GM can just share the knowledge of that dealer's mechanics with others (and with us) through a tech bulletin.
wink.gif

Actually, the dealership in Phoenix used to rely on the tech bulletins, but have seen enough of the different failures on both Reattas & other cars with the same/similiar systems that they're accumstomed to dealing with it. ... Most times my service writer knew where the problem was, before the car even got to he mechanic (kinda makes you wonder, aye?).
------------------
http://members.aol.com/gohighr/reatta.html
