Ted Davenport
It don't work...has a buzzing/hissing noise. Has anyone had this problem? How expensive is it to replace the stereo completely?
TheBlackMoon
Ted,
What year is your Reatta? If it's a '90-91, the radio's easy to replace with a little patience. If it's a '88-89, I'm not so sure what's involved, but I believe it's the same as the '90-91, with the exception of the tabe player. You may just have to live with the tape in the dash and not use it if you want to install the aftermarket radio. Costs? About as much as the radio and a little of your time would bear.
If you'd like, email me for details on the '90-91. I've done some rather extensive mods to mine and have learned the procedure inside and out.
Good luck.
Ted Davenport
Consultants_1 - I have a '90...so if you have any info on replacing (and what to replace with) the tape deck - that would be great. You can send any email to ltdport@aol.com.
Guest
Ted - before replacing, try cleaning / demagnetizing (if it's only with tapes). Works well in mine ...
~Brenda
------------------
http://members.aol.com/gohighr/reatta.html
Guest
I second Brenda's comments.
The tape deck in my 89 stopped playing and wouldn't eject. Turns out a good cleaning to free up the mechanism and a demagnetizing restored full operation again.
