For Sale: Original 1938 Ford Form #7711 "X-ray Sales Method" Lithograph, 60 page information book for prospective buyers of the 1938 Ford Car Line. This brochure/book measures 12.25in.X 9.00in. and has a semi-hard blue front and back cover, bound by a red plastic binding (Top plastic ring is broken (piece intact but loose.) Title: AN X-RAY OF THE QUALITY CAR IN THE LOW-PRICE FIELD. There is a 5.25in.X 4.75in. cut-out in the front cover that shows the hood and fenders of a red 1938 Ford Fordor DeLuxe (the cut-out is covered by intact celluloid.) There is a dog-ear on the upper right corner where the blue cover material is missing, the card stock is intact, also a crease to the lower right hand corner, no missing blue, all three unbound edges have usual wear from handling. The back cover has dog-ears on both outside corners. The interior pages are in excellent condition, no water marks or fading. There are 2 pages that have damaged wrinkles to the bottom edge, but they are intact (pages 43-46.) Page 47 has a smudge along the bottom edge. There are many fold-out pages that make 21in. X 9in. full color lithograph views of the car. Pages 9-16 are celluloid overlays "X-Rays" of a blue Ford DeLuxe Fordor including: Full Body, Interior, Body Structure, Frame with V8, and Frame with brake drums removed. The ink or paint has some wear and fading or bleeding no holes or tears (this seems to be the case with most celluloid renderings of this type and age). Pages 21-28 are more Celluloid pages showing the 85 hp V8 engine block and transmission, maniflod-valves-carburetor-waterpump-fan-generator-belt-and pulleys. Next overlay shows: heads, spark-plugs, wires, and starter. Last overlay shows the difference in size between the 60 hp and 85 hp V8 engines complete. Most interesting of all in this book are page 35 and 36 that shows actual photos of Shirley Temple as the child model for the "glass" page and "easy to drive and park page." Page 38 has a small curved pencil mark over the drawing of the leaf-spring configuration. Page 55 contains 6 actual interior seating samples including; Broadcloth (standard cars), Mohair (standard cars), Cord, Broadcloth (DeLuxe cars), Mohair (DeLuxe cars), and Genuine Hand-buffed Leather for Deluxe Phaeton cars (this page has a small "2" in pencil near the upper right corner of the page. Also included with this item is a separate page from the Ford Upholstery Offerings (Form 7768) this page has actual part numbers and cloth samlpes for the following: Standard Mohair M-16503-A, Standard Mohair M-16503-C Standard Mohair M-16503-D, Standard Broadcloth M-16552-B, DeLuxe Broadcloth M-16810-B, DeLuxe Side Wall Cloth M-5076-E, Bedford Cord M-5085-D, DeLuxe Mohair M-16502-C, Standard Headlining Cloth M-16905-D, and Headlining Cloth Deluxe M-16906-D.
