1920’s Mannesmann Auto

Looking through my wife’s family’s photo album we came across these cool photos of her grandfathers car about all we know about the car is that it is a Mannesmann.  Oh and they lived near Giessen in Germany and it looks like cool car and it’s interesting that it is right hand drive. If anyone has any info on the type of car etc it would be much appreciated. Anyway hope you enjoy the pictures

Know nothing about the car, but right hand drive was not uncommon in Europe even though they drove on the right side of the road.

From my 'Deutsche Autos', German car indeed made by the Mannesman company better known for their Mannesman Mulag lorries/busses. This looks like the little Mannesman 5'20PS W2 Sports Two-Seater built between 1923 and 1927, similar to the 5’25. Earlier car in 1923'1924 was the W1 4'16. Later came the 8'25 which was quite successful in racing. In 1927 they took on a licence to build the Rickenbacker 8 but this was not a great success and the car production stopped 1929. Current company was restructured in 1977.

Edit did not seem to work. The Mannesmann 5'20 in the book shows a right hand drive car, as do other photos of their cars racing.

I wonder if it is related to the big machine tool manufacturer of the same name.
