Monterey script

Hello from the Buick forum.  Today I bought a collection of stuff from an old auto shop. Amid that stuff was this mercury monterey emblem.  Anyone know what year?

I think it's early 70's. I think they were mounted on the rear quarter near the edge by the bumper. They may have been mounted elsewhere on different years.

If you flip it over,  it might have a number cast in the back.  The first 2 digits are all you need.  If it does fit a 72 it should start with D2 then a couple letters then a dash and a real long number.   If it starts with a C it's from the 60's.  First digit gives you decade and second gives you the first year it was used (usually).
