Welcome to the AACA Discussion Forum. I have moved your question from the software questions forum to the Judging forum. If you wish to enter the car in HPOF, I suggest you leave the paint alone. A repaint would be problematic if you are interested in HOPF or AACA Original Certification. Clean it, detail it, but don't paint it.

A car through 1931 can receive up to 9 deductions and still certify as HPOF.  Depending how the judge takes the deduction, you may be at 9 or more deductions for a repaint.  The rule is one deduction for each major body panel and fenders repainted.  The judging team determines how the deduction is taken.

Your car looks awesome! I would encourage you to go HPOF without the repaint. What a treasure you have!

Try washing it several time with a gallon of water with a cup of kerosene in the water.  Let it dry on the car, then wash it again.  It will make a huge difference in the paint and will protect the bare metal from rusting.
