Hudson auction

old car fan

No one truly knows what was in the mind of the person who willed the cars to the town. Possibly he knew the cars would eventually be sold to benefit the town. As a small town Councilman myself I understand how difficult these decisions can sometimes be. Bottom line the town "fathers" have a fiduciary responsibility to do what's best for the town and if it was necessary to supplement the funds generated by admissions with local tax dollars I can understand why the took the action they did. Sad, yes. but good to see that the cars brought very strong prices. I think the hobby may endure for another year or two.

Sometimes, a big collection of very nice restored cars

attracts buyers so much that prices are higher than normal.

The collection of Art Astor a few years ago was like that.

However, I've seen cars from that collection for sale later,

and sell for LESS than they brought at the Astor sale.

Wait a few years and see:  These cars may bring less after

they have changed hands a couple of times.
