Possibly he knew the cars would eventually be sold to benefit the town. As a small town Councilman myself I understand how difficult these decisions can sometimes be. Bottom line the town "fathers" have a fiduciary responsibility to do what's best for the town and if it was necessary to supplement the funds generated by admissions with local tax dollars I can understand why the took the action they did. The collection of Art Astor a few years ago was like that. However, I've seen cars from that collection for sale later, and sell for LESS than they brought at the Astor sale.
