Help- 88Reatta- I rolled window up/down 3-4 times yesterday-Last night I hit the switch the window went down OK, but would not go up when I hit the switch?

1988 Drivers window SWITCH goes down ok--but when I hit the window switch the window will not come UP???

 

***Passenger window switch works up & down OK

Reach under the door panel and shake the wire going to the switch.  It will either start working or shake the loose one out.

How do I know which wire goes from the window switch on the center console?

Sorry my mind went straight to the seat controls. Probably bc I have had so many issues there.

If the DOWN is working you should feel a tug/tap/grunt even if all the way down. If you do the problem is the switch (same wires, just reversed). If you feel a tap on the UP position, then the window may be jammed. If nada the problem may be the motor.

The '88-89 window switches do go bad. Dirty contacts inside the switch cause heat inside the switch and melt the pointed rockers.

You can probably get your window back up by pressing real hard on the up switch.
