For Sale Marty Moore's '40 SedanDeliv HotRod w/ Corvette 327 V8 -Full Build

Recommended Posts

This beautiful, rare, and expertly custom built 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery was one of Mr. Marty Moore's prized possessions. Marty Moore was one of the Charter & Lifetime members of the prestigious San Diego Prowlers Hot-Rod car club -from 1947-2016 . As the owner of "Marty's Custom Shop" estbl. 1954, and an RV repair shop until his passing in 2016 -Hot-Rod builder for 50+ years, Marty became very well know and admired throughout SoCal with his award-winning Fords. He was known and respected among many in the industry to have some of the best built '39-'41 Fords on the West Coast. His high level of quality workmanship, knowledge, ingenuity, and detail -combined with top quality parts, paints and components -resulted in some amazing, fast and unique, award-winning custom Ford Hot Rods still cruising today.

- This Black/Tan 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery with a Corvette 327 V8 is one of Marty's best and most popular builds, which has won several show awards, and I believe, was on some magazine covers decades ago.

Though initially done 30+ years ago -(much underneath & mechanicals re-done since) -aside from some great patina and slight paint cracking - it looks like it's only been driven around a few years.
The level of components, chrome work, leather, PPG paint, and overall detail in a full frame-up nut & bolt build like this would take $125,000+ in 2018.
This '40 Ford was kept in a big warm garage in N. San Diego with Marty's 2 other '40 Ford Pick-ups & a sweet Black/Black 1967 Buick Riviera , 4 vintage Triumph motorcycles & 2 spare Hot-rod V8s -one w/ the RARE ARDUN HEADs & other w/ 4 Weber 2BBL carbs... - which all will also be individually for sale soon... Inquire on these too.
The '40 Sedan Delivery sat still about 18 months. Then late-June with new batteries & some carb spray, started right up, no smoke, no stutters, instantly idled smoothly and quiet, no ticking, no missing. Gauges and lights all work, solid oil pressure, and the clutch is firm & smooth to engage - 1st & Reverse...column stalk shifts smoothly. Brakes have stainless-steel lines, F disc, R drum -work well in slight test.
Dash and gauges all restored - Odom shows 12752.5 miles.

Paint is better than any 35+ yr old paint job you will find anywhere - Marty was a perfectionist -and a PPG Paint distributor ... he did very high level work. -This black is very smooth and deep with amazing gloss -no runs, no orange peel, glassy smooth in most areas -some cracking, & pecks, but nice patina'd spots -and minor chips from cruising to SoCal car shows & rod shops...since the '80s. There are 3 wear marks less than dime sized -where primer shows through - from polishing over the years.
All of the chrome is in excellent shape with very minor scuffs & dots from age. No dents, large scratches, nor rust anywhere on this car -most bolts are stainless steel.
The custom pleated leather interior is of equal high-quality, very soft, it covers seats and door panels, rear wheel-humps, and trim with nearly no flaws, no cracks, no holes, very few tiny scratches.
The entire rear interior section has been covered in varnished solid wood ( Oak? & Cherry?) The floor's glossy wood slats, trimmed by chrome and leather -look like new & never touched -w/custom cover. Rear walls are a different type of wood.
The several photos will speak for themselves -Please review all. Serious Buyers Please Inquire.
