A quick way to drain a Reatta battery

Recommended Posts

I needed to get a folding chair out of the trunk. I stuck the key in the trunk switch and turned it to unlock. After I got the chair out I shut the trunk, pulled the key out and left. Four hours later I inserted the key to unlock the trunk. Nothing happened. The battery was completely dead. I discovered my key switch no longer centers itself automatically and I can pull the key out with the lock solenoid still activated. That's what killed the battery. I guess a spring in the switch has broken. I'm surprised that the solenoid wasn't burned out but it still works.

Bet a failed fan module will kill the battery faster.
