JACK M
I would bet that was a boat motor. Those jets got the bejesus ran out of them. Cooling systems usually full of sand. As a core it should bring a couple of hundred. But check very carefully for cracks.
joe_padavano
The FA block is from 1974-76. They typically do not have the drilled and tapped hole for the pivot ball for the clutch equalizer shaft if you care about that. The exact year of the block is coded in the VIN derivative, which is stamped on the front driver side of the block, as shown in this photo. The second digit is the model year. If the stamp is not the correct nine character format, then it may be a marine motor. The cylinder head ID letter, as shown in the photo, is also important and will play a part in value. Frankly, unless you have heard this engine run, assume it's a core needing a complete rebuild, which puts value in the $200-$400 range.

ted sweet
if rebuilt maybe 1/2 of the rebuild costs. and I agree doesn't look like a fresh rebuild

SC38dls
Jack - boat owners use lug wrenches to beat themselves on the head for ever buying a hole in the water they pour money into! Very similar to owning old cars but wetter. dave S 1

Jegs has them for $355 brand new, and used ones (which is what that one is now) can be had for $100. Take the $700 and run all the way to the bank. SC38dls
You are not alone. I have lumps on my head from a 42 foot Chris Craft with about 175 board feet of dry rot!
Janousek
Sure doesn't look rebuilt to me. Maybe rings and gaskets into a dirty block. The block sure wasn't hot tanked and done up right. I paid $250 for a 70' 455 out of a toronado last spring that had to be rebuilt.
