Wowabunga
The set without lug nuts might be from a farm trailer??? It has farm rubber tires on them right now. Second wire wheel set has generic center caps. Any clues???
Dave Mellor NJ
The second set looks like '28-29 Model A wheels but they could be Model T wire wheels which were an option in '26-27.
gwells
Pretty sure they're Model A wheels. The Model T hubcaps differ, as they have an octangonal outer rim and are embossed with a raised 'Made in USA.' The early Model A hubcaps have a round outer rim and just the Ford logo. Oops, missed that you posted the wire wheels have generic caps. See my next post. gwells
Here's a LINK to a thread at the MTFCA forum with enough pics to help you determine which wire wheels you have.
Spinneyhill
The first one looks like the type of tire used on the front wheels of a two-wheel drive tractor.
Wowabunga
First set has no lug nuts so have to assume it was a slow-moving something... farm trailer. Thanks for the lead on the Ford wire wheels. The wheels are at an auction and depending on condition I'll see if they go home with me.
Dave Mellor NJ
The AR didn't have a separate emergency brake (left hand brake) so the hub area was shallower. When Ford was forced to incorporate an independent emergency brake acting on the rear drum they had to make all the wheels larger so they could be used front and rear. For that reason the later wheel is about 1/4" more projection than the AR.
