Gregor
My 1948 Lincoln Continental V12 starts and drives, but not perfect. I have taken the ignition system out and adjusted it as good as it can be. But the coils are maybe the original parts from 1948, the rotor and both distributor plates are worn out. Does anybody know if it is possible to change the system into a modern type of ignition? Owen_Dyneto
Your car and your choice of course but were it mine, rather than mongrelize a nice bona fide Classic, I'd just have the distributor rebuilt.
m-mman
These distributors mounted to the end of the camshaft are quite unique are not easily modified or updated. Adapting a different design is basically impossible. Their failings and weak points are well understood and there are people who can put them right including rebuilding parts that were designed to be disposable. Search (and join) Lincoln Zephyr Owners club.
