ABS Light question

This is probably a stupid question and I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. But I've seen a bunch of cars for sale with a red break light on inside the tach( 90,91). That's just the emergency break right? And if it is, does the Yellow ABS Light turn red when The whole system is shot? I've never seen one with that, but I know that there is some sort of red ABS light that shows up. Thanks in advance

Usually not. On the '88-'90 models the Red brake warning light serves three functions.

1. (and most important) it tells you that the pressure in the brake system is low. The car is dangerous to drive when the Red warning light is on with low brake system pressure.

2. The fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir is low.

3. The parking brake isn't released.

The Yellow ABS warning light will come on anytime the brake system pressure is low and causing the Red brake warning light to come on. The Yellow light will also come on when the ABS system is malfunctioning.

The '91 model has a completely different brake system from earlier models. It doen't have a brake pump.
