Specalist John
Is it okay to let the car rest on the wheels while the outer rocker panels are removed...Thanks
nickelroadster
You shouldn't have a problem with this as a 56 Buick has a perimeter frame and the body does not support any of the weight of the car.

Rusty_OToole
Check the door fit. Make sure they fit right and open and close perfectly before you weld in new rockers. In extreme conditions the body can sag and if you don't correct this, after you weld everything together it is too late. I will replace door hinge pins and bushings if they are worn and adjust the doors before I start and if the body has sagged, pull it back straight and bolt or weld in braces. Normally there is enough holding the car together that you can jack it up and replace the rockers and floors but do one at a time, don't cut all the bad parts out at once. You can weaken the car too much. This is especially bad when you take the doors off and don't find out your mistake until it is too late. I saw a Rolls Royce ruined this way.
