nzcarnerd
Any ideas on the cars? The view from Mt Pleasant looks over what is now known as Southshore. It remained uninhabited until the late 1950s. Unfortunately it is very low lying and if there is a major tsunami the residents will not beable to get out. A similar modern view to the original, found on the net, taken from the coffee shop in about the same place. https://www.google.co.nz/maps/place/My+Coffee+at+Hornbrook/@-43.586086,172.729568,3a,75y,90t/data=!3m8!1e2!3m6!1sAF1QipO-BCROKUV5joex1HFTcYzLmL7wpu_ll4xCybfQ!2e10!3e12!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipO-BCROKUV5joex1HFTcYzLmL7wpu_ll4xCybfQ%3Dw203-h114-k-no!7i5312!8i2988!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x6d3225dd409bfb91:0xa5d4d22871e71ba8!2sSummit+Rd,+Sumner,+Christchurch!3b1!8m2!3d-43.5892746!4d172.7648391!3m4!1s0x6d3227d97f67e16f:0xeaa5b6fc3de0bc52!8m2!3d-43.5854512!4d172.7288351
PFindlay
The car in the lower right of the first picture is a 1911 Cadillac with aftermarket front doors added. Peter
PFindlay
The touring on the right, with its top neatly folded away, is a 13 or 14 Cadillac.
nzcarnerd
I am fairly sure the roadster at top right is something English with a locally built body. The touring with its top up looks to be a Hupmobile.

I think the '13 and '14 Cadillacs can be distinguished by the cowl lights - but not sure which is which.

PFindlay
Here's a curiosity ... if you look at the closeup of the 1911 Cadillac, you can see that the carb mixture dial has been pulled way out from the dash, with a bracket mounting it to the steering column. It should be sitting almost flush to the dash. This appears to be a period modification. That dial is quite hard to reach when you're driving, so someone came up with an improvement.
