64 window help

Took the door skins off to service the widows on my 64 prior to a later in the year paint job( thanks to previous threads regarding T nuts) and found what you see below. Is this arm replaceable by itself, or do you need a whole new window carrier assembly as this appears to be riveted?

is this a common failure? And can you replace the window rollers, as they seem to be rivited as well? Thanks for your time.

Very common failure. At least you have the broken piece. If you search the forum, you can find a thread that shows a repair for this part.  Good luck finding one that's not broken.

                      Since the window works fine with this part not hooked up, if it was mine I would remove the broken piece and not worry about it. Later

model GM cars have the same basic design without this piece, on much larger and heavier windows.

Thanks guys. I will post my pic in that other thread as well. I need to clean and lube all four window tracks and  see how they work, then decide if I want to repair or omit.

It seems to be a common problem with this broken.guide,can they be welded,and if so what gas and rod type? Anyone i

asked said it cannot be done need some advice from someone who has experience?

Mine was broken when I bought the car and rattled when you closed the door. The broken piece was there and we just heliarced it.

 

Fifteen years before the internet was common, memories of feeling like Major Tom back in those days.
