Reatta Bug Strikes Again

Hello Reatta fans it's been awhile. Well, the Reatta bug bit me again. I recently purchased a 1991 Red Convertible with saddle interior and saddle top. And also, amazingly, it only has 17000 ticks on the odometer. (verified with Carfax) I am in the process of getting it shipped to Arizona but will post photo's when it arrives. This will be my 4th Reatta!! What is it about these cars, they are like potato chips, you just can't have one

Thanks for the warm welcome Kevin & Stan! I missed you guys. I also really miss my 1991 w/while wheels but this one will do just fine. I talked to a friend of the guy who bought my other '91 and he said he still owns it and still loves it. I would have scooped it up but all is good, that had higher miles and this one looks like a new car. The original one my father test drove back in 1990 was a red one as well so for nostalgia's sake, a red one reminds me of dad's car, the one my mother would not let him buy. Poor dad!

I recall a post from way back when that listed totals production totals of the Reatta. It tracked how many 1991 Reatta were made of a certain color, certain interior colors, certain convert top colors, etc. So, if you have a blue 1991 convert with blue interior with whote top it would tell you how many were made. If anyone recalls this, could you please provide a link? Thanks!!

I don't know of a web site that will tell you the production numbers by color, but Tom Jenkins just updated the Reatta database (www.reatta.net) and you can manually do the numbers for 1991

Tom is also including a new list of just 1990 to be followed by the '88 and '89 cars.

There were 17 Maui Blue 1991 convertibles with blue interior and white tops........there was one made (900357)with a black top bringing the Blue/blue total to 18.

Breaking it down further.......

2 had no CD or 16 way seat, one of them had no pinstripe (900563)

4 had the CD only and one of them had no pinstripe (900352)

5 had the 16 way seat option

6 had both the CD and the 16 way seat and one of them had no pinstripe ((900355)

Sorry....I did not look at your first post..........you have a white/tan/tan 1991.........

There were 110 White convertibles made.

71 had Flame Red interior, 68 of those had white tops, and 3 had black top

19 had Tan or Saddle interior,  7 had white tops, the remaining 12 had tan tops

8  had Blue interior,  all had white tops

8 had  Grey interior,  1 had a black top  the remaining 7 had white tops.

2 White convertibles had white leather seats with Blue trim and both had white tops

2 White convertibles had white leather seats with Red trim  both had white tops

A further note on your White/Tan/Tan convertible......of the 12 made,  6 were donated to tech schools and will never be on the road.

If you give me the last 3 numbers of your VIN I might have more information.

I found the info I was looking for and started another thread to make the info more searchable for people in the future. My old car was a 1991 white/red convert with white wheels, the car I just bought is a 1991 red/saddle convert with saddle top and has only 17000 miles on it. It is a real time capsule car, looks great!

6 cars were designated ENG TEST CARS. (VIN 14, 15, 16, 17, 329, 347.  Cars 329 and 347 were sold to the public).

 

5 cars had a COLOR OVERRIDE:

       436-Red, Blk top, Red interior, blk moldings, delete pinstripe (There were 5 Red cars with a Black top and a Red interior)

       477-Burg, Tan top, Red int, Burg moldings, delete pinstripe (only one made)

       498-Red, Tan top, Grey int, Red moldings, Gold pinstripe (only two made)

       571-Red, Tan top, Grey int, Red moldings, Gold pinstripe (only two made)

       572-Red, White top, Saddle int, Red moldings, Gold pinstripe (only one made)

 

The first 12 1991 Reattas had this tire code:

All the others had this one:

 

QPE TIRE ALL- P215/60R16/N BL R/PE ST TL AL2 TIRE(QPE)

 

 

 

 

Regular 91 production began the week of December 12, 1990.  Here is the dates of the first 12 convertible builds:

Car #622 is the convert with the highest VIN, built March 7, 1991. However, cars 610, 619, 621 were all built March 11, 1991 thus ending convertible production. (The 34 unbuilt VINs begin with car #624)

 

The first 11 cars (Pilot/Eng cars) did NOT have this RPO:

 

V4J      IDENTIFICATION MID-YEAR INTRODUCTION OF REATTA CONVERTIBLE POWER PULL DOWN MOTORS WHICH WILL REPLACE THE MANUAL SYSTEM. ELEC F/TOP(V4J)

 

 

There were a lot of PACKAGE OPTIONS and CONTROL -SALES ITEMS I have not been able to identify. If you could post your ID label from the spare tire wheelwell it may help determine what some of these codes are

If the phone would stop ringing I might get this correct.......Brenda has a Red 1991 convertible with tan interior and tan top.

As Tom Benvie list shows,  there were a total of 88 made in Red.........68 of those had tan interior, and 66 of those had a tan top.

What I can add.......of the 66 like Brenda's ........

22  had no CD or 16 way seat option

15  had the CD only

10  had the 16 way option only

19  had both the CD and 16 way seat option.
