Unusual pontiac part, year and purpose?

The Pontiac Master Parts Catalogs from 1956, 1958 and 1960 have the following listing:

ACCESSORY Section, Used Car Reconditioning Materials

GROUP # 8.777

PART # 984721

DESCRIPTION: Flock, Goat Hair, 4lb

The earlier listings also show two other colors, white and gray, and flock adhesive, sold by the gallon.

So maybe others can chime in but "flock" as I know it was as used as a fuzzy surface in glove boxes and console compartments, I guess this would be more of an insulation?  I also can't explain why the part number in the catalog and the number on the bag do not match, but this is the only reference to "goat hair" I have ever seen in the Pontiac world.  This accessory section 8.777 in the catalog was for a dealer's quantity supplies like gallons of paint, cases of antifreeze, drums of undercoat, etc.  Would be interested in input from anybody familiar with other GM makes that may have seen "goat hair" references, Todd C
