My Buick 1941 Mod 46S

Other than 56, I think 41 is my favorite Buick year. My grandfather drove his mom's 1941 Buick Century around town during high school and college, so I've always been really interested. I don't know what the term is called, but it looks like yours is a fast back? Anyways, good luck! Looking forward to seeing the progress!

 Ok Thank you ,  nice to know ...

The Car has a title and the VIN nr: 44158941 ,,, does it seem to be the correct one ??

That looks like an engine number to me. There should be a tag on the firewall on the passenger's side with a serial number. You can find the engine number on the passenger's side of the engine down on the oil pan rail near the distributor. It's a machined pad that is visible from the top. You may need to clean it off to see the numbers. Titles by engine number aren't a problem as long as you keep the same engine in the car when you restore it.

44158941 = engine serial number
4 = Series 40/Special
4158941 = sequential number, range for 1941 was 4,074,859 to 4,457,940

Trim 902 = Tan Canda Cloth (Mohair), available on models 41, 44, 44S, 46, 46S, 47, 56, 71, replaced 901 after approx. the first 1200 cars

Paint code 572 = two-tone Lancaster Grey Metallic lower and Silver French Grey Metallic upper

Ben, please let me clarify my "like" above.  I like the car pictured, but I do not know. for a fact, if that would be the color combination for your particular Buick .  The car pictured is a sweet looking package!

 I'll go out on a limb here, and say yes. According to my over 40 memory cells, that is. There were quite a few two tone colour combos in '41. I'll try to find my chip chart to check.

 Whoops, I think they're over 60 now. But that still means I'm over 40, doesn't it?

 Seriously, that is a nice car, and will be a great driving car when its' done. Those 2 doors were often called Sedanettes, not sure if that was just the fastback style though.

 What are your plans for the car? I mean, re, are you planning a high point restoration, or making a nice driver out of it?

There were two lengths of side trim, 21" & 24'' which are you looking for? I've heard long trim for fender, short for skirt. Can anyone confirm if that's correct or not? Forgot to ask. Was the trunk floor Rusty?

The long ornaments are for skirts, the short ones are for fenders. If you put the long ones on the fender, the tips will not sit flush on the bodywork and will stick up a bit. The radius is just a little different. They've surely been mixed and matched--most skirts I see have the short ornaments--but that's how the factory intended it. It also depends on whether the skirts were dealer installed or factory installed. Obviously the dealer would just re-use the small ornaments from the fenders on the skirts while the factory would use the correct part. The longer ornaments seem to command a stronger price, too.

Hope this helps!

Hello Ben Buick 38

I am somewhat new to the AACA site and was just searching through your entries. It you are still in process or have found  that you need to augment some pieces for your car, i may have what you are looking for. Finished or not, i would love to see the results. Hope to hear back from you.

Richard the 1941Buicknut!
