Wheelmang
It appears, from the looks and condition of the lining material remaining on my 1926 DB rear brakes, that it is time for new lining. The lining looks, I haven't removed anything yet, to be bonded to the shoes. My questions are - is there a recommended source that will reline my shoes? Or, in my ancient history, on large truck brakes, I have purchased blank lining segments, countersunk the lining and then drilled and bolted lining to the shoes. (I may still have a source for some asbestos lining material.) Is this an accepted practice on this application? As always, thanks for your valued input. MikeC5
Unless they changed to bonded in 1926, I think you should have riveted linings like the '25s. I did a write up on riveting new linings it's just as you described except using hollow rivets instead of bolts. The link is here: http://forums.aaca.org/topic/201925-doing-brake-linings-on-a-25/?tab=comments#comment-1027071 I'm sure you could find a place that will do them for you. Wheelmang
Thanks Mike. Perfect post and great detail on your link. I did start the disassembly this afternoon and they are riveted.
MikeC5
You're very welcome. If you decide to avoid the asbestos, you might give this stuff a try. It's been working fine in my car. https://www.mcmaster.com/#clutch-lining/=195i6ed
