1990 AC system

The ac system has been converted to R134a by PO.  Was performing fine for a few seasons before compressor manifold tube cracked.  I'm wondering about how many cans of R134a refrigerant it will require to recharge after I vacuum the system.?

I did not know the answer so I looked it up....

the ratio is...if you need 2 lb of R12 then you need 1.8 of 134.

The spec on the Reatta is 2.375 lb of R12..........my math says you need 2.14 lb of 134

Knowing the proper amount is good but I usually tune to the pressures. Thing about 134 is that the high side runs higher than 12 and if you put too much in can exceed 300psi particularly if the condenser is dirty or the fans do not work properly. That said 134 works just fine in my Reattae.
