51_Buick
Hi, i have a 51 Buick Special mod. 46s. I'm currently doing a frame off restoration. Now i've heard from another source that the dash bolted in. Now i can't find the bolts for the life of me. I found these which to me look like spot welds. If any of you folks out there have taken the dash out of their buick how was it secured? i would like to remove it so i can clean it and paint it. If it's bolted in where are the bolts. If it is actually spot welded in then i guess i'll have to strip the dash in the car and paint it in the car. Thanks in advance!!!
Ttotired
I think you have answered your own question mate Looks welded to me. Looks like you have some welding to do anyway, so cut it out if you want (I wouldn't)
g-g-g0
I have recently parted a 51 Super and a 52 Roadmaster and in both cases they were bolted in place. Gary
JohnD1956
Is that weld attaching the front, to a bracket that may be bolted on to the body behind the front of the dash?
Daves1940Buick56S
From the Parts Manuals: This is the 50/70, but the same year. Look at the tabs on the top. I seem to recall you have to remove the windshield to access these. Do you have a good body manual with a removal procedure for the dash? Cheers, Dave Edited July 18, 2017 by Daves1940Buick56S (see edit history)

Interesting. As many 55s as I've seen, I've never seen a welded dash.

The exploded view above would still believe that it was not welded.
