1939 Special - Need Brake Assistance, Please

Recommended Posts

I broke a rule and managed to toss out 2 pieces from a wheel cylinder on my '39 Special.

Thankfully, by only working on one corner at a time I minimized my error.

However - I am missing 2 of the forked thrust rods that go from the cylinder pistons to the brake shoes.

I don't see them in my Cars, Inc. catalog.

Does anyone have a source, or spares to sell?

Many thanks for any assistance...............

Man those are odd parts because they aren't in hardware kits or cylinder kits.  I can tell you that they certainly aren't specific to 1939 Buicks, unlike much of he car.  Hopefully someone will have them or at least be able to say what models they fit.

You can search "1939 Buick brake cylinder" on eBay and get an idea of all the makes and models that use the same part.  That would certainly help widen your search.

If I still have my extras I would send them to you.

JRHaelig: I am sure i have the parts you need but will have to look tomorrow. FYI I have many brake parts for 1939 Special, new wheel cylinders and master cylinder, brake shoes that were installed and very little use, and very good hold down hardware. No brake lines or drums. Bob H
