nzcarnerd
This one appeared on a local Facebook page. Taken in the Rotorua area of New Zealand, probably WWI era. I should know what it is but it hasn't jumped out at me yet. Note the 'non-skid' tyre on the front right. When did they first appear?
Dave Mellor NJ
That emblem looks like this Metz.
nzcarnerd
I was thinking that it had writing in it in the manner of Overland but I know it is not an Overland.
Spinneyhill
It looks to me like it starts with a script D and has a tail in the middle.
nzcarnerd
I wonder if it could be a Marathon. I know the colour of the badge looks wrong but the general look of the car, and the badge, is similar.

gwells
I believe you nailed it, nzcarnerd. Marathons were the only car ever manufactured in Nashville, Tenn., and it is known that a lot of their production was exported to other countries. Only nine Marathon cars are known and four of them are owned by Barry Walker, the developer of the Marathon Village complex at the original Marathon Motor Works factory. He was gracious enough to give me a private tour of the complex and the collection a number of years ago. Marathon Village is the location of one of the Antique Archaeology stores featured on the TV show "American Pickers."
Marathon Man
Yes, that is a 1913 Marathon Runner model auto, 25 hp. Would like info on who had posted that on Facebook. Or if anyone knows of Marathon cars, parts or photos for museum. Thank you.
