NC1968Riviera
I ordered a wood steering wheel from a vendor on Ebay the other day. It turned out to be a Grant wheel and hub. The instructions were pretty straight forward but the contact spring they include is about 1/3 too long. On my first attempt installing the wheel, the horns blared when I hooked up the negative battery cable. I took everything apart and found the contact spring had gotten kinked outside the plunger sleeve included in the kit. I cut down to the kink then tried again. Again the horn blared. I cut a little more of the spring, which make it easier to install the whole unit. The third time was the charm. No horn blare when I connected the battery cable. See the results! This wheel is about 1" smaller in diameter than the original steering wheel. It also has a thicker ring which is much more comfortable for me to grip. Chimera
Well...I like it. It matches the power and elegance of the vehicle.
