Lookin' good -- also looks like there'll be lots of tape & mud soon!  :P

You are so right about lots of tape and mud.  I can hardly wait (sarcasm).  Wish me luck on that.  Before I tackle the mud, I have to reset some of the loose bricks on my brick stairs and then build a new set of stair rails.  I appreciate the encouragement as always.

Love the new water heater!  Those railings are going to be stout!

Thank you Matt.  Yeah, I know the stair rails appear pretty bulky, but that was intentional.  I wanted something a little more heavy duty.  I plan on enclosing the rails with drywall and a semi-decorative wooden top.  Also will add hand rails.

Started the mudding over the weekend, but could only get a days worth in.  The family van became priority as it didn't pass inspection.  Spent a while fixing that and my daughter had a soccer game.  Not much of anything to show, but I mudded over about 70% of all the drywall screws with my first coat of mud.  I will finish this up the following weekend and then I will begin to tape and apply my first layer of mud on the joints.  See you then.

Wow, so it's really been about 7 months since my last update.  Truth is, I haven't accomplished much since.  Too many things have pulled me away.  I am now just starting my finishing layer of mud...finally!  I will post pictures when my progress becomes more significant.

I have to celebrate any small milestone with this job in the garage.  I get so little time to spend on it...which means no time on the Buick anytime soon.  Anyway, I finally finished mudding the ceiling.  Every seam got 3 layers of mud, for the exception of the longest seam, which needed 4 layers in my opinion.20180909_185739.thumb.jpg.aca74cf2813995214ba399e258eb1a01.jpg20180909_185711.thumb.jpg.ee946e2810660a827a88374155b85d16.jpgNext weekend, if time permits, I will start wet and dry sanding the ceiling to prep for primer.

Finished dry sanding the ceiling.  Dusted it off and finally got it primed.  I am excited at how seamless it came out with no visible lines.20180930_194032.thumb.jpg.0c5b1d5d5d2d9023a082e65e14907bbc.jpg20180930_193956.thumb.jpg.1caddd7703f578181219596ac6abda8c.jpgNext weekend I hope to apply 2 coats of ceiling paint and then install the strip lighting to finally get some real light in this garage.

KC that does look smooth and I’ll bet you’re happy to leave the dust in the dust.  Recently I bought cheap primer for my ceiling and then followed it with a substantially more costly ceiling white.  This stuff was pink when wet and then dried bright white. The reason for this color change paint was to ensure coverage in one coat. For me, it worked out well.

Great work and keep the posts coming.

Thank you Mr Joe.  That's exactly what I used for my ceiling.  I used the Valspar brand.

This weekend, I finished up the ceiling with 2 coats of paint and then installed the strip lights.  I should have them wired up next weekend.20181007_201609.thumb.jpg.68d99bb3765a2037b0da6c5fafa00c4d.jpg20181007_201552.thumb.jpg.177b1874a1835c88b242039c3cf2b533.jpg

KC that looks great - and it looks very bright in there.  Will you be putting a plywood bottom under that bench?  You’ll need all the flat surfaces you can get so you can pile them high with junk!

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Mr Joel.  It is very bright in the garage right now.  My wife has complained about that.  It's the reason why I went with a darker grey.  So that the darker color can absorb some of that light.  As for the bottom portion of my work bench, I already had a piece of plywood cut out that fits underneath.  I have already put that back in.  I will post a picture next chance I get.

Thank you as well.

Today, I was able to finish the rest of the painting.  As you can see, the color we chose was "55 Buick AC evaporator box grey".  Sike!  Just a coincidence...or maybe not.  20190203_170048.thumb.jpg.769863b4e0a78e8a6a6a1efb168860be.jpg20190203_170103.thumb.jpg.291d0a6d3534b6dc83bc62dff1a465dc.jpg20190203_170134.thumb.jpg.d48cbbd2d266aacdd44d147bfc290a43.jpg20190203_170143.thumb.jpg.9d001026314ade9aacb7be6d6ec3f6ae.jpg20190203_170157.thumb.jpg.4fee10100cd6f04fc073a3efd360803f.jpg20190203_170213.thumb.jpg.076805604ad002ead52d0228f3127e9d.jpg20190203_170243.thumb.jpg.585a105d4575e0240cb0d52a29f9b1ef.jpgNext weekend, I can finally start cleaning the mess and organize the garage.  Probably will take a couple weekends to do.  Either way, the end is near and I will be starting work back up on the Buick soon!  It's been way too long.

I Finally starting to move my tools back into the work bench area.  20190217_213610.thumb.jpg.499b1f9857a3cad907c3453373e9ba91.jpgI also moved some things back onto the shelving unit and touched up a few areas with some paint.  Clean up and organization already in progress.  I even got the stair handrails mounted in place.20190216_190728.thumb.jpg.c81c411550c7f53108a53bc20edb8b21.jpg20190216_190742.thumb.jpg.d0203e0e773a5112774ceef8680e5351.jpgNext weekend I will probably start working on the decorative caps for the stairway.  My beautiful wife wants it stained.  I will also continue to tie up loose ends...which seem to be a lot.

Over the weekend, my wife really wanted the floor done in the garage.  So, we chose a sealer from Lowes that she liked.  No big deal right?  Well, it turns out that if your concrete slab had been sealed previously, you have to strip it all off to allow the new sealer to adhere.  Because of the tight spaces in my garage, I needed to go small with a 4-1/2" diamond infused grinding wheel.20190318_190042.thumb.jpg.b4d60d091ce956ad944e74eac345ea7a.jpgNot only was it back breaking work to strip the whole floor, but all the cleaning I did previously was in vain.  It looked like the site of a nuclear holocaust.  Now I have to clean every square inch of the garage again.  Anyway, here's what the floor looks like now.  20190318_190018.thumb.jpg.7f297138f959db32cc51a6d0105436de.jpg20190318_190003.thumb.jpg.e01d3a4683343f07c39355dd4ddc6221.jpg

Yesterday, I sealed the garage floor.  It took so much effort to clean all the dust and dirt off of the concrete.  Even applying the special paint was a challenge.  Right when I was painting the final sections of the floor, my oldest Son opened the kitchen door to say hi to me.  That's when my dog decided to run out of the house and into the garage.  My Son tried to hold him, but he slipped out his hands and ran down the stairs and right on the floor that was still wet with paint.  Adding insult to injury, my dog slipped and went in face first into the floor.  He got himself up, stepped on the floor a few more times in confusion and I finally was able to get him out.  Paint was all over him and my floor now had some fur in it with skid marks.  I was beside myself over this.  I was able to fix the area.  But now I have a dog to wash on top of being completely exhausted.20190407_193654.thumb.jpg.30fe5fa256bb3add08514a67ab964394.jpgOverall, I am pretty upset with this product.  The color of the paint is very temperamental and even while doing my best to keep the paint mixed up, I still ended up with 3 shades of grey.  You can see it in my pictures, one of which was photo bombed by my youngest Son.20190407_185404.thumb.jpg.c58e63f9bb24e4f18728d13d3a6dfc2c.jpg20190407_193417.thumb.jpg.82b7986d7cc998d963227dac5ddd0ac8.jpg20190407_193355.thumb.jpg.f0ccf772b4700813ef9e3e9fe7b5f871.jpgBut that's not all.  It seemed that the paint was drying very nice and smooth.  The gloss looked very good in spite of the color variation.  I clean stuff up and pack it in for the night.  When I come home from work today, the first thing I do is go out to the garage to discover air bubbles spread all over the floor.  Of course, the bubbles left a bad scar on the surface of the floor.  So, I have just about had it with this floor and the lousy product.  Now, my Wife and I are exploring other options with the floor other than a paint.

I think the air bubbles are from spots on the floor that had oil or something that did not allow the paint to stick.  I ran into this problem in a garage I had.  Floor looked horrible.  Sorry it did not work as planned.

Gotta love your son!  Cute little guy!  And well, the pup was just happy to see everyone!

Thank you Sir!  I love him to life!

Also did a small task in the garage today.  I took the electrical panels and repainted them the same color as the walls.  They used to be ugly and stood out.  I hope now that the will look cleaner and will somewhat blend in.20190428_190948.thumb.jpg.d2a0c830543f5d6c951c90072dbe281a.jpg
