'66 / '67 Seat Upgrade

Recommended Posts

I finally mustered the courage to install headrests on my seats. They never had them.

I post this because these kits do not come with instructions. Doing my homework for preparation I've found

grumblings about the kit in Chevy forums. After seeing an original headed seat back apart - I got confidence.

I have install pics if anyone wants 'em. Complete success. And just like OEM. Here are before and after shots:

That looks very nice. Are those vinyl over foam like originals are are they molded urethane?

Thanks. Its not a stitched vinyl. I didn't think '66/'67 was wrapped vinyl upholstery based on what I've seen in others.

I know other years were upholstered. Heres an original '66 with a "molded" cap:

They look great Paul. Now if someone rear ends you, you won't get whiplash.

I installed a set of these a bunch of years ago. I felt they were a very good reproduction. You have to look close to confirm they aren't originals. They weren't vinyl covered but it was hard to tell. The seam/piping around the perimeter is the easiest way to tell repro or not. The new ones are a molded-in seam (cosmetic only) to simulate the vinyl piping.
