Black River
Hello, all. Just curious if anyone knows if the vent window regulator shafts are different lengths between a standard and deluxe interior on a '63. I've got Deluxe door panels on mine, which were on it when I got the car, but my vent window cranks are nowhere near being able to be installed on the shafts (they can't be pushed on far enough to engage the retaining clip). Just curious if there was a difference between them (maybe my car had standard interior from the factory). I can buy these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WINDOW-CRANK-EXTENSION-Chevy-Camaro-Corvette-GM-Buick-Pontiac-Olds/131786729465?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D43166bc4658748c281b64c49b64c3007%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D7%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D162444010425 to hook up to them, but I'll probably just make something myself, unless someone has a different approach and has run into/fixed this issue before. Thanks!
rodneybeauchamp
Hi, the parts listings for 4747 63 Riviera list some variations between those fitted with electric vent Windows and manual vents. Different part numbers usually means different parts. This may be the problem as the book lists 10.661 4747 REGULATOR 4808183 R 4808184 L and for the A32 option power windows and power vents 10.661 REGULATOR AND MOTOR 4860658 R 4860659 L So the regulator may be the problem! hope this adds to your solution,
lrlforfun
OK Riviera People: I'm gonna put my money on the same length standard/custom. . There is a door/keeper or what ever on the back side of the regulator. It is riveted to to housing. Many times the rivets fatigue and there's the difference in length...the shaft screwing in a wee bit more due to the extra space provided by a separating door. BTW, they're easy to fix. Drill 'em out and use sheet metal screws. One other thing is that the door card could be warped. Mitch
