John_Mc
Hi folks, anyone know if the Zephyr engine mounts are the same as the Ford V-8 of the same year?? Can't believe Henry would have two different mounts but my originals are flat and the V-8 reproductions are somewhat domed.
19tom40
John, I am not sure if they are the same, but we just had a discussion on the Ford mounts on the Early Ford V-8 Forum. The conclusion was that Bob Drake made the best mounts. The Zephyr mounts may have a different hardness than the Ford / Mercury as the engine is heavier. Too soft mounts cause clutch chatter and too hard mount transfer the engine vibration back into the car.
John_Mc
Never thought of that Tom, I'd better go with the Zephyr parts vendor has. Thanks and I need to get those valve spring tools back to you shortly.
Colin Spong
I used Bob Drake reproduction Ford motor mounts on my 1937 LZ back in 1993. They have never given any problems and are still perfect.
John_Mc
Colin, Did Drake identify the mounts as for a Zephyr or were they Ford parts that you just used on your Zephyr?

Colin Spong
John, They were normal Ford parts and not identified and LZ. They have been on the car since 1993 without any issues
